A New Era
It’s been more than 10 years since we started Coerver® Coaching in South Africa and since those early days back in 2013, we’ve had many highs. Unfortunately, we’ve certainly had our fair share of lows and since the COVID-19 pandemic; Coerver® Coaching in South Africa has pressed forward with a very limited offering.
Having been met with challenges and uncertainty at every turn we’ve pressed forward and today find ourselves with 10+ years experience within the South African football landscape and a renewed energy following the recent Coerver® Coaching 40- year global celebration in Germany. (That’s right - I said 40 years!)
We’ve realised that despite being knocked down, we have never been counted out and we stand here today, as motivated as the first day, finally ready to play at the level we belong.
The 2013 Coerver® Coaching South Africa Youth Diploma launch event was delivered by global co-founders Alf Galustian & Charlie Cooke at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
Recently, we shared the news of our newly formed Elite Coaching Team, comprised of former professional players from some of South Africa’s leading football clubs, together with another exciting development where we've teamed up with two of South Africa’s current superstars to bring Coerver® Coaching to Johannesburg.
Bafana Bafana duo Aubrey Modiba & Teboho Mokoena joined the Team as we look at cementing our place at the forefront of youth development in South Africa - much like Coerver® Coaching has done around the World over the past 40 years!
With these two major milestones in place; we believe that now is the right time for us to share more details of our plans to achieve our ambitious Vision.
To kick off, we’ve returned right to the foundation of the legendary Wiel Coerver’s philosophy of using the World’s greatest footballers as models to inspire, motivate and develop young players and have planned regular Play Like the Stars Clinics at venues across Johannesburg, having already started in Fourways at XP Arena.
“In 2013 we started, with the Vision to make the World’s #1 Soccer Skills Teaching Method accessible to every young player in South Africa.
The Vision has not changed, and in 2024 we’re joining our global colleagues in 50+ countries, committed to resuming the Mission - to develop creative & confident game-changing players.” said an excited Coerver® South Africa Director Cayl Coetsee at the recent internal photoshoot in Sandton.
